In today’s post, we’re going to discuss how this issue occurs, how it can be prevented, and how we can help. Here are a few tips from our Customer Care Center on how to make sure your device is installed properly.
Ensure that antennas are placed on the outside of the device cabinet. Often, we see the OptConnect router installed inside of a metal cabinet with the antennas inside that cabinet as well. This can cause interference for the device to be able to maintain a steady connection to the cellular network. The best practice will be to install the antennas outside the cabinet on a metal surface. If you have two antennas, you will want to place them 6 – 8” apart from each other. We advise against any antenna with a longer cable of 6 feet as that can cause interference as well.
Determine which antenna is best suited to your needs. If you have a location where customers will potentially be able to move the antennas, we offer different antenna options that can help provide a more stable connection. The other antenna styles we offer help prevent people from being able to move them or damage them.
Confirm which carrier is best for your location. Wherever you decide to place your device, you’ll want to know which carrier will be able to provide you with the most reliable connectivity regarding your location.
