Team Building at 2018 Dirty Dash

“Coming together is a beginning. Keeping together is progress. Working together is success.”

This past Saturday on September 15th, OptConnect got down and dirty at the 2018 Dirty Dash at Soldier Hollow in Midway, Utah.

We had a team of 12 employees take part in the 5K obstacle course, all representing OptConnect with custom team shirts designed for the event.

Through wind, mud, sprinklers, and chaos we pushed our way through the obstacle course. Slipping and sliding through each leg of the course.

With OptConnect’s focus on fostering a collaborative and team-oriented culture, we chose to do the 5K to challenge ourselves to something new.

We weren’t sure how employees would feel about doing the event, but we ended up having a great turnout. The course was truly a team building experience.

There were several obstacles that required us to trust one another and work together. We stuck together as a team throughout the course, making our way through ditches of muddy water and high wall rope climbs.

One of the more challenging obstacles was a rope walk with sprinklers underneath it. Though it took a bit of time to get everyone through, the muddy slide at the end made it worth it.

Through every obstacle we came across we never gave up and powered through. After one final swim through a muddy ditch, we crossed the finished line together as a team, a truly invigorating moment for all of us.

What we learned from this year’s Dirty Dash is that we can accomplish anything when we work together as a team. No obstacle is too large when you have people who are willing to challenge themselves.
